LEFT-WING JEWS: A JEWISH AND AMERICAN TRAGEDY

Jewish leftists make revolution, all Jews pay the price.

It is probably impossible to overstate the damage left-wing — not liberal but left-wing — Jews are doing to Judaism, Jews and America. Of course, the same can be said of the damage left-wing Catholics are doing to Catholicism and America, other left-wing Christians are doing to Christianity and America, and, most obviously, the damage the secular left-wing is doing. But since anti-Semitism is in the news, and given the prominence of many left-wing Jews, I will focus on them.

The damage done to Jews by left-wing Jews is not new. It began at the beginning of the left with Karl Marx, the grandson of two Orthodox rabbis (his parents had undergone pro forma conversion to Christianity). He wrote one of the most anti-Semitic tracts of the 19th century, “On the Jewish Question,” published in 1844. In it he wrote, among other things:

“What is the worldly religion of the Jew? Huckstering …”

“What is his worldly God? Money …”

“Money is the jealous god of Israel, in face of which no other god may exist …”

“In the final analysis, the emancipation of the Jews is the emancipation of mankind from Judaism.”

In the early 20th century, another left-wing Jew, Leon Trotsky, who, along with Lenin, led the Bolshevik Party in Russia, was a catastrophe for Jews and for humanity. In 1920, when Trotsky was head of the Red Army, Moscow’s chief rabbi, Rabbi Jacob Mazeh, asked him to use the army to protect the Jews from pogromist attacks in which tens thousands of Jews were murdered. Trotsky is reported to have responded: “Why do you come to me? I am not a Jew,” to which Rabbi Mazeh answered: “That’s the tragedy. It’s the Trotskys who make revolutions, and it’s the Bronsteins who pay the price.”

That is the story of the many Jewish leftists to this day: Jewish leftists make revolutions, and all the Jews (among millions of others) pay the price.

Thus, many of the leaders of the movement to economically strangle Israel — the Boycott, Divest, Sanctions (BDS) movement — are left-wing Jews.

A few years ago, I was invited to the world’s most famous debating forum, the Oxford Union, to debate the farcical question of whether Israel or Hamas is a greater obstacle to peace in the Middle East. One of my two adversaries was a Jewish former professor at Oxford. He argued that Israel was a greater threat to peace than Hamas.

Another prominent left-wing Jew, MIT professor Noam Chomsky, has devoted his life to writing and speaking against two countries: the United States and Israel.

The security of the world’s only Jewish state is by far the greatest security issue for world Jewry. Yet many left-wing Jews attack Israel, support many of those who wish to destroy Israel or, at the very least, do nothing to strengthen Israel’s security.

In America today, leftism has poisoned so many non-Orthodox synagogues, they differ only from the American Civil Liberties Union or the Democratic Party in their use of Hebrew liturgy.

Many non-Orthodox synagogues sat shiva — Judaism’s seven days of mourning after the death of an immediate relative — when Donald Trump was elected president. This perversion of Judaism is an example of what leftism does to every religion it infiltrates. I suspect none of those synagogues sat shiva after the murder of 11 Jews in Pittsburgh. Why? Did the election of Donald Trump bother them more? Left-wing Jews are ethnically Jewish, but their values derive from leftism (just as the current pope is Catholic in his identity but his values derive from leftism).

The current charge that the Pittsburgh massacre was caused by President Trump is one of the greatest libels in American history. Virtually every left-wing columnist and commentator has spread this lie, most of them written by left-wing Jews such as the Washington Post’s Dana Milbank. One of their lies is that attacks on George Soros are anti-Semitic.

I think George Soros is a malevolent force. Am I an anti-Semite? (To answer that, let’s compare what I have done for Jews and Judaism with what any of these left-wing Jews have done.) But left-wing Jews have always done this. They attributed the execution of the Rosenbergs — who, immoral leftists that they were, passed on the secrets to the atom bomb to Stalin — to anti-Semitism. The judge in the Rosenberg case was a Jew. But to left-wing Jews, that didn’t matter. Ever since Stalin labeled Trotsky a “fascist,” leftists have always depicted their opponents as “Nazis,” “racists,” “anti-Semites,” “fascists,” “haters” and “bigots.” That is their modus operandi.

Many of these left-wing Jews base this libel about President Trump’s “role” in the context of an equally libelous claim that there has been a great rise in American anti-Semitism in the Trump era — resulting in the Pittsburgh massacre — based on an Anti-Defamation League study. The study’s mendacity is fully exposed by David E. Bernstein, a professor of law at George Mason University Law School and a Trump opponent , in two devastating reviews (one on Reason and one in TabletMagazine). Read them and you will understand one of the most important things you need to know about the left: Truth is not a left-wing value. The ADL, which at one time was preoccupied with fighting anti-Semitism, is now preoccupied with fighting Donald Trump and fighting on behalf of the American left.

In 1970, a Harris study showed that 23 percent of Jewish college students termed themselves “far left” versus 4 percent of Protestants and 2 percent of Catholics.

Many of those college students are now many of the non-Orthodox rabbis and lay leaders in American Jewish life. Given the rule that whatever the left touches it ultimately ruins (the universities, for example), the Bronsteins will continue to pay the price for the Trotskys’ revolutions.

Netanyahu defends ceasefire, cites secret information

By Adina Katz, World Israel News

Ahead of Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman’s resignation due to his opposition to the ceasefire deal with Hamas, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the truce agreement, saying there were reasons unknown to the public.

“In times of emergency, when making decisions crucial to security, the public can’t always be privy to the considerations that must be hidden from the enemy,” Netanyahu said at a state memorial service for David Ben Gurion, Israel’s first prime minister, in Sde Boker.

“At these moments, it is not up to leadership to do the easy thing but to do the right thing, even if it is difficult. Leadership is sometimes to be criticized, when you know secret and sensitive things that you cannot share with the citizens of Israel, and in this case the residents of the south, whom I love so much and appreciate,” he added.

“Our enemies begged for a ceasefire, and they knew very well why,” the prime minister stated.

The Egyptian-brokered ceasefire was reached Tuesday evening after Hamas and other terror groups in Gaza launched close to 500 rockets into Israel within 24 hours, resulting in one death and dozens of injuries.

Several ministers, including Liberman, and members of the Opposition slammed the deal.

Hundreds of protesters gathered at the entrance to Sderot following the ceasefire announcement, blocking roads and burning tires. “Bibi go home,” one sign read.

Liberman is also calling for early elections.

The goal: To stabilize the coalition

INN – Prime Minister Netanyahu began consultations Wednesday with coalition leaders and senior Likud officials following the resignation of Minister Avigdor Liberman and the expected resignation of his party, Yisrael Beytenu, from the government.

Netanyahu is seeking to stabilize the coalition and allow it to continue to act.

Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman announced Wednesday afternoon that he would resign his position in the Netanyahu government, and that he will call for new elections.

“I’m here to announce my resignation as Defense Minister for the State of Israel, Liberman told reporters at a press conference.

The question is why now. As far as I’m concerned, what happened yesterday, the ceasefire yesterday, with the negotiations with Hamas, amounts to a capitulation to terrorism. There’s no other way to describe it. It has no other meaning, it is simply a capitulation to terror.”

Liberman cited a number of areas of disagreement between himself and Prime Minister Netanyahu, which he said culminated in Wednesday s decision.

“It is no secret that over the past few months, there have been disagreements between myself and the Prime Minister. For instance, my opposition to the [decision] to permit fuel from Qatar to be allowed into the Gaza Strip. I did not want to permit Qatari fuel in [to Gaza]. I thought that this is a mistake. Only after the Prime Minister made a formal written order was I forced to allow Qatari fuel into the Strip.”

Liberman also cited the recent coalition decision, pushed by Netanyahu, to delay implementation of a Supreme Court order to demolish the illegal Bedouin encampment of Khan al-Ahmar east of Jerusalem.

ORGANIZATION RUN BY US MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD OPERATIVE IS DISSOLVED

March for Justice” nears its end – but when will Nidal Sakr face his own justice?

November 21, 2018

Joe Kaufman

On July 26th, Nidal Sakr tweeted a Hamas communique, which included a photo of an armed Hamas soldier dressed in fatigues. That’s a normal event for Sakr, someone who has been associated with the founders of al-Qaeda and has issued death threats against President Trump and was sentenced to death, himself, in Egypt for murder. However, since his Hamas posting, Sakr has been relatively quiet – so quiet that it seems he is allowing the organization he has operated for nearly two decades, the March for Justice, to dissolve.

According to his bio, “In July 2000, Nidal became the Chairmen [sic] for the March for Justice…” The group was incorporated as a Florida Not For Profit Corporation. It became known for its extreme anti-Israel protests. At one such event, held at the University of Miami in October 2002, then-Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was labeled “the world’s longest standing terrorist” and Israel an “illegitimate state.”

Sakr’s anti-Israel ideology had been building up for years.

Long before his involvement in the March for Justice, around 1970, Sakr had been recruited into a terrorist cell operating out of Jordan that was conducting paramilitary operations against Israel. Sakr stated on video that he had been recruited into the cell by Abdullah Azzam, the future mentor of Osama bin Laden and co-founder of al-Qaeda. He further stated that he was a personal acquaintance of bin Laden and the bin Laden family.

Sakr has since written that Israel “MUST BE OBLITERATED” and that he will “never rest till ‘Israel’ is off the map.”

Sakr also used his March for Justice organization to shill for the Muslim Brotherhood, while he was residing in Egypt and acting as an organizer for Brotherhood rallies and an advisor to Brotherhood leadership during the Arab Spring.

This past September, according to the Florida Division of Corporations, the corporation for Sakr’s group, the March for Justice, was dissolved for its failure to file an annual report. And while Sakr’s sister March for Justice corporation in California shows “ACTIVE,” it appears that his paperwork, which was due in June, has been delinquent as well.

Why?

Maybe he just didn’t feel the need to maintain the organization any longer. Or maybe it has to do with the legal controversies surrounding Sakr’s life.

In March 2014, Sakr left his home in Egypt for the United States, where he had been born. Upon arrival he was placed in handcuffs and detained. There was a good reason for him leaving Egypt. Days after his detention at the US border, Sakr was sentenced to death in Egypt for the murder of an Egyptian police officer.

Sakr was allowed to remain in the US. While here, he has repeatedly leveled threats at President Trump.

In July 2017, Sakr referred to Trump as an “enemy of God.” In September 2017, he wrote, “FACTS ARE FACTS. Patriotic Americans Will Keep After SOB Donald Trump Until We Nail His ass. YOU WATCH!!” And in October 2017, Sakr outright called for the President’s death. He tweeted, “EXECUTE SOB TRAITOR Donald Trump.” That same day, he wrote, “Donald Trump, You Are TOAST… I GUARANTEE IT.”

To make a threat against the President of the United States is a federal crime. Sakr could serve up to five years in prison for doing so. Of course, this is no comparison to the death sentence he would receive in Egypt. But even with the extradition treaty that was signed between the US and her Egyptian ally, getting sent off as an American-born citizen to realize his Egyptian fate is not an easy task. That is, unless there is proof that Sakr renounced or lost his US citizenship.

According to the United States government, “You might lose your U.S. citizenship in specific cases, including if you… commit an act of treason against the United States.” In this author’s opinion, Sakr has done that on numerous occasions by issuing threats against the US.

Sakr has referred to the US as “evil America” and the “largest Global Terrorist.” Last December, he tweeted, “Down with America!!!” In November 2017, he tweeted (in Arabic), “Jihad will topple all American dogs.” And in August 2017, he wrote, “LET ME BE CLEAR. Like it or Not, America MUST/WILL PAY 4 War Crimes/Crimes Against Humanity/Support of Dictators/Terror Creation.”

Up until recently, Sakr has been very active on social media. Following his Hamas communique post in July, Sakr waited till October 22nd and October 23rd to make his next posts. He tweeted on both days, “BREAKING!!! LIVE from Johannesburg…” He said he was discussing the subjects of the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi and anti-Muslim activities, on the South African radio channel CII or Channel Islam International.

Question: Was/Is Sakr traveling to/residing in South Africa or was he just interviewed on a radio station that happens to be located there? He has been interviewed by CII many times in the past. If he is living outside the US, maybe it is the reason why he has appeared to have let his March for Justice organization dissolve.

Regardless of where he has been or is currently located, Sakr’s violent actions, threats and terror incitement – which spans five decades – needs to be stopped immediately. Sakr must be held to account for his activities and be brought to justice. This could happen in the US via jail sentence, so he can no longer pose a threat to national security, or via extradition to Egypt, where he faces execution. Doing so would send a long overdue signal that those who promote terror and sedition can no longer do so with impunity. Either way, justice will have been served.

MACRON’S CHUTZPAH

And his ingratitude for America’s sacrifices in blood.

To mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One, also known as Armistice Day, French President Emmanuel Macron addressed leaders from over 60 countries who were gathered at the Arc de Triomphe, the famous Paris landmark.  The 2018 gathering commemorated the “war to end all wars,” which ended at precisely the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918.  Macron lit the eternal flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and spoke of the sacrifices made a century ago during four years (1914-1918) of human carnage in Europe. Yet, with President Donald Trump in the audience, Macron, in what appeared to be a direct jab at the U.S. president, said: “Patriotism is the exact opposite of Nationalism, and Nationalism is a betrayal of Patriotism.”  He then added, “Old demons are reawakening, ready to sow chaos and death…History sometimes threatens to repeat its tragic patterns and undermine the legacy of peace we thought we had sealed with the blood of our ancestors.”

Macron was apparently alluding to a recent Trump speech in which the U.S. President called himself “a nationalist.”  Some people might consider Macron’s remarks as sheer “Chutzpah,” others might call it “insensitive.”  The truth however is that Trump’s nationalism is not of the European variety that was indeed the cause of two total wars known as WWI and WWII.  The first was brought about by the German Kaiser Wilhelm II, seeking an empire to rival and undermine the British and French Empires, while the Second World War had to do with the weakness of the European democracies, namely Britain and France, and the Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler, seeking a 1,000-year Reich, and Nazi domination of Europe.

True, European pacifism today stems directly from the loss of a whole generation of young men in WWI.  That pacifism however, enabled Hitler’s Germany to extract concessions from the democracies, and the sacrifice of Czechoslovakia on the altar of “peace in our time,” as announced by the appeaser Neville Chamberlain, following the Munich accords with Hitler.  Ironically, the same pacifism gripping Europe in the 1930’s is present today among the leading members of the European Union (EU): France and Germany.  This may be why they are underfunding their militaries, and why they continue to appease a radical and dangerous Islamic Republic of Iran in the name of “peace.” They are also maintaining the nuclear deal in spite of clear indications that Iran is not keeping its part of the “spirit of the deal.”

Macron sought to play the role of a “vocal counterweight” to President Trump in rejecting Trump’s “America First” policy and denouncing the U.S. for stepping out of international treaties such as the Iran nuclear deal, the Paris climate accord and the UN program on refugees.  The contrast between the EU and the U.S. is rather clear.  Whereas the globalist Macron and his unelected EU officials are not accountable to the people in the individual EU member states, President Trump is accountable to the American people.  Moreover, for too long, America has given of itself and its resources to protect Europe.

Macron should remember that it was the American Expeditionary Forces that tipped the balance in WWI in favor of the allies, Britain and France.  French soil is full of reminders in the form of military cemeteries and of the American sacrifices for France and Europe in WWI and WWII.  In fact, it was American might that liberated France.  The U.S. Marshall Plan facilitated the rebuilding of Europe after WWII. The U.S. protected Western Europe, especially France and West Germany, from the Soviet menace during the Cold War, by stationing U.S. forces in Europe and providing it with a nuclear umbrella.

In saying, “Old demons are reawakening, ready to sow chaos and death,” Macron was likely referring to the Trump administration and some EU states (Poland, Hungary, The Czech Republic, Slovakia, and now Italy too) rejecting dictates of the EU to absorb mostly Muslim migrants from Middle Eastern and African countries. They have been faulted by Macron for trying to preserve their culture and way of life, and avoid the Islamist terrorism plaguing France and Germany, in particular.  Seeking to do what is best for one’s people and nation, while not necessarily appealing to the values of the unaccountable globalist structures such as the EU and the UN (not exactly a paragon of virtue), is not equal to “sowing chaos and death.”  Moreover, Macron and the French, in particular, are always ready to excuse the brutal regimes of the Third world, while finding it easy to blame democracies.  This is true in the way France is dealing with Israel and the Palestinians and the case of the U.S. versus Iran.

Tweeting a response to Macron’s allusion in his speech to Trump, and the French President’s suggestion of a European army, the U.S. President wrote: “Emmanuel Macron suggests building its own army to protect Europe against the U.S., China, and Russia.  But it was Germany in World War One and Two – How did that work out for France?  They were starting to learn German in Paris before the U.S. came along. Pay for NATO or not!” Less than two hours later, Trump tweeted: “The problem is that Emmanuel suffers from a very low Approval Rating in France, 26%, and an unemployment rate of 10%.  He was just trying to get onto another subject.  By the way, there is no country more Nationalist than France, very proud people and rightfully so!…Make France Great again!”

Admittedly, Trump’s response could have been more historical and less political, crafted in a letter to Macron and not in a tweet.  In it he could have reminded the French president that the American people, prior to the World Wars, were essentially isolationists, and sought to adhere to the Monroe Doctrine (1823), which stipulated U.S non-interference in the internal affairs or the wars between European powers.  It is because America cared about freedom and opposed German militarism and fascism that the U.S. became the savior of European democracies.

Trump’s “America First” foreign policy reflects the U.S disillusionment with the corrupt UN and its various agencies, such as the Human Rights Council, run by oppressive dictatorships, or UNESCO, which decreed that the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem, Judaism’s most sacred shrine is “occupied territory.”  It seeks to instill fairness in international trade relations, in which the U.S. is not taken advantage of.  In fact, Trump tweeted in his response to Macron that, “France makes excellent wine, but so does the U.S. The problem is that France makes it very hard for the U.S. to sell its wines into France, and (France) charges big tariffs, whereas the U.S. makes it easy for French wines, and charges very small tariffs.  Not fair, must change!”

With multiculturalism being the new faith of the EU leadership, and globalism as its foreign policy, it is indeed difficult for the likes of Macron to understand American “nationalism,” patriotism, or pride, which is essentially deeply rooted in Judeo-Christian values.  It is sheer chutzpah on Macron’s part to infer that the Trump Administration’s America is selfish and does not care about the world.  He should appreciate America’s generosity, and its sacrifices in blood for the survival of freedom and democracy in Europe.  Unlike Macron and the EU, America is not however, obligated to appease the forces of evil.

Analysis: Israeli defense minister’s other reason for resigning

By Bill Mehlman, World Israel News

The news cycle is currently revolving around Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman’s decision to step down. The main reason he gave, and the only one the media are focusing on, is the Israeli government’s failure to rein in Hamas on the southern border.

Virtually ignored is the second reason he gave — the Netanyahu administration’s failure to evacuate the illegal Bedouin outpost of Khan al-Ahmar.

The clock is ticking on Khan al-Ahmar.  Israel’s Supreme Court has given Prime Minister Netanyahu and his Likud-led coalition until December 2, to move on the Court’s authorization to take down the collection of shacks illegally thrown together 25 years ago in Israeli-controlled “Area C” of Judea and Samaria by members  the Jahalin Abu-Dehuk Bedouin tribe.

A positive response to the December 2 deadline, i.e., the evacuation of the 135-member Bedouin encampment, would nail down  territorial contiguity west of the Jordan River for the Jewish state. The outpost stands strategically astride a four-lane highway linking Jerusalem to the Dead Sea.

It’s either that, warns Jewish Home firebrand MK Bazalel Smotrich, “or Palestinian territorial contiguity from Bethlehem to Jericho and Ramallah.”

Israel’s strategic enhancement from the removal of the Bedouin encampment, moreover, would not end at the Jordan River.

It’s a hop and a skip at that point to Amman, observes Bar-Ilan University political science professor and president of the Institute  for NGO Research Gerald Steinberg, and “from there, some 72 hours later, by car (or tank), to Iraq.”

Anti-Israel forces have no case

The combined opposition to the Supreme Court’s ruling – the Palestinian Authority flanked by the EU and its diplomatic and NGO shock troops – doesn’t have much of a leg to stand on, morally or legally.

Years of negotiation with the Bedouin  tribe on their removal to a nearby area including free allocation of generous plots of land to each of its 28 families, clean water, telecommunication connectivity and a modern school have been frustrated by what outgoing Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman described as “the irresponsibility of a cynical Palestinian leadership that has seized upon the issue as a gold mine for vilifying Israel.”

Mining its own nuggets from this exploitation of a confused Khan al-Ahmar  community, European and U.N. spinmeisters have put the Bedouin site on their “must-visit” list.

Supported by a phalanx of NGO stars, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch among them, their reports and media posts reflect a beyond the water’s edge suggestion that Israel’s attempt to close down the  illegal and unsafe encampment and move its occupants into  clean, modern housing might merit the attention of an international tribunal.

“Millions of euros, krona and pounds from European taxpayers,” Steinberg submits, “are invested in this public relations effort.”

The legal case upon which this effort must stand is especially weak. More than two decades of court examination, court appeals and court rulings underscore this unmitigated fact.

Palestinian flags fluttering above its shacks to the contrary notwithstanding, Khan al-Ahmar stands smack in the middle of an area clearly prohibited by  law for settlement by Bedouins, Palestinians, Europeans or anyone other than its Israeli citizen owners.

That the International Criminal Court has seen fit to involve itself  in this  matter is both a shock and no surprise.

Already well into a “preliminary examination” of  PA allegations of “war crimes” by Israeli political and military leaders, the ICC, as viewed by Alan Baker, director of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs International Law Program, appears to have been adopted by the Palestinians as “their own ‘in-house’ Israel-bashing tribunal.”

Dancing around a prohibition against any action that might reflect on her position as an international official, ICC prosecutor Fatou Bensouda  has plunged headlong into a “preliminary” public spanking of Israel over the proposed  evacuation of Khan al-Ahmar as a possible “war crime” under the ICC’s Rome Statute.

First in the order of  inanities, it has yet to be established that the PA has any standing in this dispute  since, as Baker points out,  “the ICC Statute is open to states only and the legal and politically flawed Palestinian claims to statehood have yet to be considered judicially.”

Secondly, the Rome Statute  argues against the ICC taking action on a complaint if the courts at the national level have dealt with the case.

Israel has been dealing with Khan al-Ahmar for more than two decades. Its High Court of Justice has given the government the power and authority to humanely solve the problem.

“As to those who would question the integrity of Israel’s judiciary,”  Liberman asserted, “this is the same court that is so broadly praised when it comes to relocating Jewish residents from their homes.”

“Absurd, to say the least,” the  Defense Minister adds, “is the notion that moving a small group of people  within a several kilometer radius will somehow stand in the way of resolving the “complex” Israeli-Palestinian impasse.

“Does Israel need to heed such grandstanding?  Do the people [of Khan al Ahmar] need to pay with their health and lives for it? Not on my watch.”

Liberman has exited the building. It is to be wished that his successor will take as firm a stand.

IDF to public: Don’t share info on secret Gaza operation

By Jack Gold, World Israel News

The IDF’s Military Censor published an extraordinary announcement on Thursday, calling on the public not to publish information about a clash between IDF Special Forces and Hamas terrorists that occurred in Gaza earlier this month.

“Hamas is trying to decipher and understand the incident that took place deep in Gaza, and any item of information, even if it is considered harmless by its publishers, could endanger human life and harm state security,” the statement said.

Col. Ariella Ben-Avraham was referring to the incident during which IDF Lt. Col. M. was killed and another IDF officer wounded during a reconnaissance mission inside Gaza.

Six Hamas terrorists, including a senior officer, also died in the shootout.

The full circumstances of Lt. Col. M.’s death are shrouded in secrecy, and his funeral was closed to the public.

“Regardless of the credibility of the information published by Hamas, we ask you to refrain from expanding the publication of pictures, personally identifiable information or other personal information that you have received in the media, social networks, Whatsapp groups and any other media platform,” the head censor stated.

Israeli media has been publishing information on the clash on an almost-daily basis, presumably after receiving clearance from the censor. Lt. Col. M.’s picture and personal information were posted on social media, including by a number of Israeli politicians.

Zamir was appointed following the recommendation of incoming chief of staff Maj.-Gen. Aviv Kochavi.

Born in 1966, Zamir, who recently finished serving as the Head of the Southern Command, spent most of his career in the Armored Corps, commanding the 7th Armored Brigade as well the Ga’ash Division.

He also held a number of key positions in the Ground Forces Command before serving as a military aide to Netanyahu, acting as the Prime Minister’s chief military and intelligence affairs adviser. He was then appointed as Head of the Southern Command, which was his only General Staff posting.

Maj.-Gen. Nitzan Alon, the former head of IDF Operations and current officer in charge of the military’s efforts against Iran, was also interviewed by Netanyahu for the position.

Most of Alon’s service was in the elite Sayeret Matkal special forces unit, he was appointed its commander in 1998. In 2003, he was appointed commander of the 551st Brigade and in 2005 as commander of the Etzion Regional Brigade in the Central Command. Two years later he took head as command of the IDF’s Intelligence branch’s new Operations Division, in charge of Israel’s “war between wars” overseeing special forces operations in various arenas.

He also served as commander of the Judea and Samaria Division from 2009-2011 before being appointed head of the Central Command in 2012. While he has spent the majority of his career in top secret positions, he was twice passed over for the role of Military Intelligence Chief.

Both Zamir and Alon were also candidates for the role of chief of staff, with Zamir rumored to be favored by Netanyahu.

On Tuesday evening, the Senior Appointments Advisory Committee announced it had approved Kochavi’s appointment to take over for outgoing Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gadi Eisenkot, who is due to finish his term as the on December 31.

A final vote to approve Kochavi as the 22nd IDF Chief of Staff is expected to be confirmed by the cabinet on Sunday.

A NOTE IN PANTS AND PHONE IN DRUGSTORE: HOW ISRAEL STOPPED A HAMAS ATTACK

According to the agency the activity that was discovered was “different from Hamas’ efforts in recent years, both in terms of its scope and in its potential danger.”

Israel’s Shin Bet internal security agency announced on Thursday that it uncovered an attempt by Hamas to establish a terror cell in the West Bank to carry out serious terror attacks in Israel.

According to the agency, the activity that was discovered was “different from Hamas’s efforts in recent years, both in terms of its scope and in its potential danger.”

The investigation found that the cell was directed by senior Hamas figures in the Gaza Strip who pressured the cell members – who had been trained in preparing explosive devices and instructed to target civilians – to carry out the attacks “as soon as possible in order to bring about an escalation in the Gaza Strip and West Bank at the same time.”

The cell was uncovered following the arrest of 25-year-old Owes Rajoub, a resident of the Palestinian town of Dura near Hebron on August 23, after he shared his plans to carry out attacks with a number of his friends and family members.

His interrogation revealed that he had been recruited by an activist from the Gaza Strip who had approached him shortly after Ramadan. He suggested that Rajoub join Hamas’ military wing and that he would send him material on manufacturing explosive devices which could be remotely detonated.

He was then instructed by his handler on August 11 to go to a drug store in Ramallah and collect a mobile phone from there to serve as their main way of communicating. A few days later he was instructed to meet with an operative in the Bethlehem area to get a password and additional information for using the phone he was given earlier.

He was then instructed to meet an elderly Gazan woman who had come into Israel for medical treatment. According to the Shin Bet, the woman gave Rajoub a pair of pants which had instructions written inside by his handlers. He began to receive training on preparing explosive devices via video clips sent to him by his handlers as well as by video conversations with a bomb expert.

Rajoub then recruited two other Hamas operatives from the village of Beit Khalil Betir to help him manufacture the bombs. He had been instructed to complete them by the end of September and carry out the attack inside the Green Line at a shopping mall, hotel, train or bus by early October.

“The activists in the West Bank were instructed to prepare explosive devices using advanced explosives which have not been used in the West Bank so far,” read the Shin Bet statement.

According to the agency, Hamas “cynically” used Gaza residents with permits to enter Israel for humanitarian reasons to carry messages between operatives.

“Hamas cynically used Gazans who were authorized to enter hospitals in Israel for life-saving treatment, as well as Gazans who were asked to send messages to recruits in Judea and Samaria,” read the statement, adding that “this is not the first time Hamas has exploited the humanitarian medium to carry out military operations in the West Bank.”

USAF takes control of Syrian skies. Unidentified air strike on Iranian target

This new game changer in Syria, revealed here by DEBKAfile, provoked an exceptionally detailed threat from Tehran: “US bases in Afghanistan, the UAE and Qatar, and US aircraft carriers in the Gulf are within range of our missiles,” said Brig. Gen. Amirali Hajizadeh, head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ airspace division, on Wednesday, Nov. 21. “We can hit them if they (Americans) make a move. Our land-to-sea missiles have a range of 700 km (450 miles) … and the US aircraft carriers are our targets.” he said.

Iran’s airspace chief was responding to the abrupt change in the skies over Syria. For the past week, the: US Air Force has kept F-22 stealth planes and F/A 18F Super Hornet fighters flying over Syria around the clock. Gen. Hajizadeh knew exactly where they were coming from – the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar and the US Al Dhafra Air Base in the UAE. Why he slipped the Kandahar base into his list is a mystery because none of the USAF planes over Syria come from there. The USS Harry Truman Carrier Strike Group is another matter, since some of the US fighter bombers circling over Syria come from its decks. This five-ship strike group reached Syrian waters late last week. They also had cruise missiles aboard.

DEBKAfile’s military sources report that these US overflights are taking place without interruption: as one group flies back to base, another takes its place. Their constant presence in Syrian air space has chased all other warplanes, especially those of Russia and Syria, out of the sky. US pilots also report that the S-300 air defense systems, which the Russians began importing to Syria in October, are not operational and are unlikely to be before January.

This is what Pentagon spokesman Eric Pahon was talking about on Tuesday, Nov. 20, when he said: “Russia’s S-300 air defense systems in Syria have no impact on United States’ operations in the country.” He also aimed a warning at Moscow: “Any additional arms sent into Syria only serves to escalate the situation at this point.”

Is this a window of opportunity?

According to an exclusive report reaching our military sources, unidentified aircraft attacked an Iranian target in Syria on Monday, Nov. 19. This was not a major operation and the target was small. All the same, it was the second attack on an Iranian site in Syria since Israel discontinued its aerial attacks in the second half of September. The first, on Oct. 23, appears to have been carried out by unidentified missiles against the Damascus region. After the air strike, Washington hastened to send out quiet messages that the USAF was not involved. However, so long as the Russian S-300s are non-operational and the US Air Force provides an umbrella, Israel is offered a window of opportunity for resuming its assaults on Iran’s presence in, and arms deliveries, to Syria. There is no knowing how long that window will stay open.

Iran: US bases are within range of our missiles

An Iranian Revolutionary Guards commander said on Wednesday that US bases in Afghanistan, the UAE and Qatar, and U.S. aircraft carriers in the Gulf were within range of Iranian missiles. “They are within our reach and we can hit them if they (Americans) make a move,” Amirali Hajizadeh, head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ airspace division, was quoted as saying by Tasnim news agency.

“Our land-to-sea missiles have a range of 700 km (450 miles) … and the U.S. aircraft carriers are our targets,” he added.

İngiliz bakan ağzından kaçırdı: Türkiye tuzağı

İngiliz Daily Telegraph gazetesi, Dışişleri Bakanı Jeremy Hunt’ın geçen hafta Başbakan Theresa May’i Avrupa Birliği’nden çıkış (Brexit) anlaşması konusunda uyardığını ve Brüksel ile üzerinde mutabık kalınan metni “Türkiye tuzağı” sözleriyle nitelendirdiğini yazdı. Gazete haberi manşetinden verdi.

İngiliz bakan ağzından kaçırdı: Türkiye tuzağı
22.11.2018
İngiliz Daily Telegraph gazetesi, Dışişleri Bakanı Jeremy Hunt’ın geçen hafta Başbakan May’i Brexit anlaşması konusunda uyardığını ve Brüksel ile üzerinde mutabık kalınan metni Türkiye tuzağı” sözleriyle nitelendirdiğini yazdı. Hunt’ın, söz konusu anlaşmayla İngiltere’nin AB’ye üye olmadan yıllarca Brüksel’in uydusu gibi hareket etmek zorunda kalacak olduğunu söylemesi, adeta AB’nin yıllardır Türkiye’yi nasıl oyaladığının itirafı oldu.
MÜZAKERELER DEVAM EDİYOR

İngiltere Başbakanı Theresa May, muhalefet partilerinin yanı sıra lideri olduğu Muhafazakar Parti’den bazı milletvekillerinin de tepkisini çeken Brexit anlaşmasına son şeklini vermek üzere Brüksel ile müzakerelere devam ediyor.

Brexit anlaşmasının Pazar günü AB liderler zirvesinde oylanması planlanıyor.

Ancak Daily Telegraph, geçen hafta İngiltere hükümetinin kabine toplantısında görüşülen taslak anlaşma metnine itirazların geldiğini, Dışişleri Bakanı Jeremy Hunt’ın Türkiye’yi örnek göstererek metin üzerinde değişikliklerin yapılması gerektiğini söylediğini aktardı.

O kabine toplantısından sonra Brexit Bakanı Dominic Raab ile Çalışma ve Emeklilik Bakanı Esther McVey istifalarını vermişlerdi.

“AB’NİN BİR UYDUSU”

Daily Telegraph, Dışişleri Bakanı Hunt’ın mevcut anlaşma metninin İngiltere’yi “AB’nin bir uydusu” konumuna düşüreceğini ve İngiltere’yi Türkiye gibi süresiz biçimde AB’ye üye olmaksızın Brüksel’in politikalarına bağımlı kılacağını söylediğini yazdı.

Haberde Hunt’ın bu durumu Türkiye’nin 31 yıldır devam eden üyelik müzakereleri sonucu oluşan Brüksel-Ankara ilişkilerine benzettiği ve “Türkiye tuzağı” olarak nitelendirdiği aktarıldı.

MAY CUMARTESİ GÜNÜ BİR KEZ DAHA GİDİYOR
